Prospective PhD students
We welcome applications from motivated students with strong backgrounds in appropriate disciplines.
You are encouraged to look through the webpages for your chosen discipline and find one or two potential supervisors to discuss your research interests.
MSc and PhD programmes at the School of Informatics
We usually require potential PhD students to first study for an MSc degree. Potential students may be admitted directly to the PhD programme if they have carried out prior postgraduate study, or in exceptional circumstances. The School offers its own strong MSc programme. Alternatively, the new 4-year Data Science PhD programme includes some MSc-level courses in the first year.
Application and funding
The School website has information about applying for a place and funding to do graduate research. Some of the deadlines are early in the academic year, especially for funding options that you may find from your country of origin. You are advised to start contacting prospective supervisors as early as you can.
Informal enquiries about studying for a PhD within ANC may be made to the ANC PhD secretary.
Staff are always happy to hear about and discuss your interests and develop PhD projects that are of mutual interest.
