Deputy Director of Teaching (Curriculum)

The Deputy Director of Teaching (Curriculum) is principally responsible for academic oversight of the School’s undergraduate and postgraduate taught curriculum including responsibility for course documentation and representation of the School at College and University level regarding taught teaching curriculum. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Deputise for Director of Teaching at College Learning & Teaching Committee and College Programme Approval Committee, as required
  • Member of the School Teaching Committee
  • Member School Teaching Executive
  • Responsible for liaising with Institutes to confirm courses to be offered each year and allocation of teaching duties, working in collaboration with Deputy Head of School and Director of Professional Services in the overall allocation of duties.

The Deputy Director of Teaching (Curriculum) is supported by the Head of Student Services and Studentship & Teaching Support Manager including, but not limited to, co-ordinating the annual teaching allocation process to ensure appropriate allocation of academic resource to courses and of teaching related duties.

Deputy Director of Teaching (Operations)

The Deputy Director of Teaching (Operations) is principally responsible for academic oversight of the School’s delivery of its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and services.  This includes responsibility for co-ordinating initiatives to improve the student experience, ensuring timely and effective feedback to students and developing policy to support effective and transparent decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversight of the School's teaching support policies, including allocation of teaching support resources (in consultation with Head of Student Services who has budget responsibility)
  • Member of the School Teaching Executive
  • Member of the School Computing Strategy Group
  • Deputising for the Director of Teaching at College and University meetings on occasion

The Deputy Director of Teaching (Operations) is supported by the Head of Student Services and Teaching Organisation Manager. 

The Head of Student Services will lead on defining priorities to monitor and enhance the student experience, convening regular meetings with students, designing and leading cohort building frameworks and activities in consultation with UG Year Organisers and MSc Programme Directors, and lead the annual admissions cycle in consultation with the School’s Admissions Officers, MSc Programme Directors and Recruitment Officer to agree admissions criteria and programme targets.
