Mechanical support

The Mechanical Technicians provide support, primarily for research and can provide some assistance for student projects.

Our Mechanical Technicians are always willing to assist with putting together equiment but are often tied to deadlines and extremely busy.

If you are planning to construct equipment and wish our help, please contact us before buying in the material or sending parts out for cutting. This last bit is important as quite often inexperienced designers buy in materials without consideration for finishing requirements or allowing excess for gripping and are then disappointed when we point out to them that the material area is undersize.

Questions we are often asked by students and researchers often relate to them getting personal access to our equipment, unfortunately there are very few requestors who are aware of the appropriate workshop regulations and have the necessary skills and familiarity with the machines to allow us to do this.
