Welcome Week sessions for students in the Centres for Doctoral Training in the School of Informatics.

CDT Induction 2017

The three Centres for Doctoral Training within the School of Informatics are holding a CDT Welcome Day on Thursday 15th September 2017, as part of the School's Welcome Week. The schedule for CDT in Pervasive Parallelism students is as follows:

Thursday, 14th September:

13:00-14:00
CDT Welcome Lunch for all CDTs

Mini Forum 2,

Informatics Forum 

 All CDT students welcome.
14:00-15:00 CDT in Pervasive Parallelism Welcome Meeting

Room 3.02,

Informatics Forum

 All CDT PPar students required to attend.
15:00- 16:00 Tour of the Informatics Forum Leaving from Room 3.02 Led by PPar students Naums & Justs.
 16:00-17:00 CDT in Pervasive Parallelism Welcome Reception

 All CDT PPar students and supervisors welcome.

The Welcome Lunch is for all new students in the CDT in Pervasive Parallelism, CDT in Data Science and the CDT in Robotics and Autonomous Systems, as well as the Executive Committees for all three programmes. Each programme will then have its own Welcome Meeting and Reception. All incoming CDT PPar students are required to attend the Welcome Meeting. The  drinks reception which follows will give you the opportunity to talk with CDT PPar staff and supervisors and get to know your fellow students.

*It is expected that all CDT PPar students will attend the above events.* Please email ppar-cdt @ inf.ed.ac.uk as soon as possible if you think that you will be unable to attend.

Other Welcome Sessions

CDT students are also *expected to attend* the following two introductory sessions:

Wednesday 13th September:

  • 9:30am - 10:30am:  Introduction to Taught Masters, Appleton Tower, Lecture Theatre 5
  • 12:00pm - 12:30pm:  Welcome to Informatics - Research Students, Informatics Forum, Room G.07/G.07A

CDT students may also be interested in additional sessions during the School of Informatics’ Welcome Week (e.g. about the School computing system, Transferable Skills training, the library, teaching support jobs, etc.). Teaching Support Opportunities

Your may also wish to attend the Teaching Support Staff Recruitment Event, provided by the Teaching Support team. The event will take place on Friday, 15th September @ 12:00 noon. Learn about a wide-range of positions available to postgraduate students in the School of Informatics.
