Information about the computing resources available to CDT PPar students.
The PPar CDT shares a Compute, Data and Big Memory cluster with the Data Science CDT. For more information, see:
- https://www.wiki.ed.ac.uk/pages/viewpage.action?title=Informatics+CDT+Cluster+Wiki+Home&spaceKey=ICCW (requires EASE login)
In addition, there are further resources available to you through the wider School, University and your supervisor. These include:
- General purpose servers in the School of Informatics. Some are for light tasks, like ssh and email. There are a few compute and big memory servers too, although they tend to be in heavy use.
- ECDF (Edinburgh Compute and Data Facility) hosts a University-wide cluster with over 3000 cores. It can be a bit crowded, and uses a slightly different Linux install than DICE.
- ARCHER national supercomputing service and other facilities at the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre.
CDT PPar students may purchase additional, specialised computing equipment, using the budgets allocated to them by the CDT, if the equipment is required for their research and approved by their supervisor and the CDT PPar Deputy Director. Please see Expenses, Budgets & Additional Student Costs.
