The Rea Marmarinou Award
A bursary of £300 is available each year for a female student to attend a conference or workshop to present a talk or poster on a cognitive science topic.
This bursary is kindly given by Eleni and Tony Marmarinou to commemorate the life of their daughter, Rea Marmarinou and her dedication to her cognitive science studies and research in Edinburgh.
How to apply
Students applying for funding should send an email to the Informatics Graduate School (firstname.lastname@example.org) outlining their intended destination and event they are hoping to attend.
Applications can be accepted throughout the year and partial awards may be made based on likely expenses for attending an event that do not fully utilise funds available.
Further funding support
Support for accommodation and travel can be requested.
Chiara Semenzin has been awarded the 2018/19 Rea Marmarinou Award to attend the 41st Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society in Montreal, Canada in July 2019. The award was based on presenting a paper on her work that explored the cognitive biases that guide language acquisition using a Bayesian computational model of frequency learning.
