Free and fun, the talks will take place 10am-12noon and 12.30-2.30pm in our George Square Lecture Theatre, next to the main University Library, George Square, Edinburgh EH8 9LH.

As the organisers say, “Scotland is leading many nations in creating an army of cyber security experts Scotland will need to become a world leading cyber security nation. 2016 is a big year with Cyber camps and competitions aimed at Schools and the promise of a potential CyberFirst grant to catapult you into a fantastic career starting with the security services!

“The Christmas lectures are the perfect complement to cyber security teaching. This year we are making the event bigger and better than ever, more fun, more learning, more explosions and lots and lots of CHOCOLATE!”

The lectures have been running since 2012, and aim to inspire a new generation into careers in cyber security and the digital sector. Supported by Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, SICSA, Young Scot, (ISC)2, BSides and Skills Development Scotland, they complement the three themes that the new National Progression Award in Cyber Security are based on:

  • Digital Forensics
  • Ethical Hacking
  • Data Security

These lectures, provided by industry experts, will bring the subject area to life in an educational but fun session.
