Course registration and change

Information on course registration for Taught MSc students.

Pre-register your course choices

You have received course pre-registration forms in the summer and you have probably already made some choices.

Courses are filling up quickly, and some courses have quotas. The deadline for completing your course selection is Wednesday 7 September. After then, please contact your Student Adviser to select course choices.

We hope that pre-registration will be helpful to speed up the process of course registration for continuing students, allowing tutorial and lab group allocation to take place in good time for the start of the new session.

Semester 1 and 2 - course choices can be changed until the end of week 2 of the Semester.

It is your responsibility to check that you have chosen an appropriate set of courses (equalling the correct number of points and accessible via the course timetable) to meet your degree requirements . You must ask your Student Adviser to approach the School Curriculum Approval Officer,  if you require special permission to take a course which is not normally available to you.

Course Changes

Although you must select courses for both Semester 1 and Semester 2, please note that these choices are not binding at this stage, but allow us to ensure that all class, email and exam lists are as up-to-date as possible.  You may amend your course selection at any point up to the deadline which is the Friday of wk 2 of Semester 1, and there is another opportunity at the start of Semester 2 to amend your second semester courses up to the Friday of wk 2 of Semester 2.

Note that the Informatics Teaching Organisation should be informed of any late course changes so they can liaise with Examinations in an attempt to minimise examination timetable conflicts.

Course Surveys

Each year we ask students to complete course surveys to gather information on best practice and for future improvements.  Course survey results from last year are published at the following link, along with lecturer responses and actions taken.  This information can be useful when making your decision on which course to take as part of your degree programme:
