Induction Events
Induction events for PGR students.
The Informatics Graduate School holds PGR Induction events in September and January each year. These events provide you with important information to get you started on your PGR degree programme. As well as presentations from a range of University teams, this is an excellent opportunity to meet, mix and mingle with your new PGR peers. Attendance at the PGR Induction is expected by all new PGR students (including those on CDT programmes).

Principal's Welcome Ceremony
On the first day of Welcome Week, Principal Peter Mathieson welcomes all new students to the University community. For those who cannot be on-campus the event will be live-streamed and recorded.
Doctoral College
The Doctoral College is a central structure, designed to help coordinate and highlight training, support, and opportunities for all postgraduate researchers across the institution.
An online welcome talk from the University of Edinburgh Doctoral College will take place on Tuesday 12th September at 1pm and is open to all new postgraduate researchers. You will need to register for this event.

Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) cohorts
Students commencing studies on one of the School’s UKRI CDT programmes in Biomedical Artificial Intelligence (BMAI), Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Robotics and Autonomous System (RAS), will be contacted directly about cohort-specific CDT welcome/induction events by their CDT Coordinators.
