Industrial Engagement Event 2016

The 2016 IEE was co-organised by the CDT in High Performance Embedded & Distributed Systems in the Dept of Computing, Dept of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College London.

The 2016 Industrial Engagement Event (IEE) is an internal event which aims to connect PhD students and industry leaders with like interests

to discover potential areas of collaboration, particularly via internships and industry projects. This year, we will be co-hosting the IEE with the CDT in High Performance Embedded & Distributed Systems (CDT in HiPEDS), from Imperial College London.

The first part of the day will focus on student and industrial presentations, so as to inform both groups on each other’s work/research areas. A small number of students will concentrate their presentations on their internship experiences with industry partners. This shall be followed by an interactive student poster session, when industry partners can further explore students’ current research.

After lunch, the day’s event will include a networking session, which will be structured to allow for industry representatives to have one-to-one sessions with students and discuss in more detail the opportunities for internships and projects.

Members of the CDT in PPar’s Industrial Advisory Board will break for a feedback meeting, which all industry representatives are welcome to attend.

Students

PhD and MSc students from various programmes will be in attendance at the 2016 Industrial Engagement Event, studying in the areas of: informatics, computer science, physics, engineering and mathematics. They come from the University of Edinburgh; Imperial College, London; Heriot Watt University; and Edinburgh Napier University. Many of the students attending the IEE will be looking for internships in the near future, or looking ahead to opportunities post-graduation.
