Title: Neural circuit mechanisms for spatial computation (and reproducible research articles)

Abstract:

Neural circuit architecture is believed to be a critical determinant of human and animal cognition. In contrast to the relatively simple structure of most artificial neural networks, brain circuits implement diverse organisational motifs. How the resulting complex organisation of neural circuits contributes to cognitive functions of the brain is a major unsolved problem. I will discuss organising principles from our work on circuit mechanisms that underlie spatial cognition. I will also highlight work in collaboration with Stencila to generate executable versions of our published research articles.
