Title: Love in the times of AMR

Abstract:

In this talk I will give an overview of our work to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR), which threatens to uproot modern medicine as we know it. The fight against AMR is one at many scales. Our focus is at the level of bacterial pathogens, on the one hand, where we build mechanistic models to understand how cells respond to antibiotic exposure, and ultimately, to find potential routes to improve treatment. On the other hand, we also work to improve clinical practice, by analysing network models of patients to understand how superbugs spread in hospitals and how we can prevent this more effectively.
