New Student
Information for new PGR students starting their studies in September or October 2022

All new PGR students are allocate a shared desk when they first arrive at the school in accordance with the new school desk policy. Details of the policy can be found here.

New PGR students in the school are issued with equipment when they arrive. This will be arranged by IGS and provided by the Computing Support team. Details of what is available to new PGR students can be found here.

On-going course questions
Programme changes, or concessions, include Leave of Absences, Interruptions, Extensions, Change of Programme requests and Withdrawals. Guidance for all of these processes can be found here.
The School and University offer a wide range of support. There are many options available to you and your students. If you are unsure who you can direct your student to speak to then feel free to contact igs@inf.ed.ac.uk for guidance.

It may be the case that your student requires further support to help them progress on their programme. This can be offered by the Student Disability and Learning Support Service. They can apply Schedule of Adjustments to student records to help students receive the support they need. You can find out further information about this process here or you can contact the IGS adjustment coordinator, Patrick Hudson, if you have any questions.
Changes to PGR supervision teams can happen throughout their programme. You may want to discuss any issues relating to changing supervision teams with Mary Cryan, Deputy Head of Graduate School. If you require any changes to be made then please contact igs@inf.ed.ac.uk for assistance.
