Title: Small Humanoid Robots Playing Football at the RoboCup Competition:
Challenges and Technical Insight Into the Rhoban Team Architecture
Abstract: The RoboCup is the largest international competition of robotics
investigating many state of the art robotics challenges through several tournaments.
The Rhoban team from the University of Bordeaux, France is taking part
to the competition since 2011 in the Kid-Size Soccer Humanoid league.
Within this league, small humanoid robots are designed, built and
then programmed by the teams to play an autonomous football game of 4 versus 4
on artificial soft grass and colorless ball and goal post.
The team has slowing improved over the years to win the first place
of the league for the last three consecutive years in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
As a member of the Rhoban team during my PhD, I will present in this talk
the context of this competition, the main tackled challenges from hardware to software
as well as the key technical components of the architecture.
