What will I learn from courses in this topic?
Informatics is the study of computation in both artificial and natural systems. Natural systems include both biological ones (such as brains) and social ones (such as the Internet). Courses in this topic will expose you to a range of examples of how computation takes place amongst multiple agents, and how we can analyze or exploit that computation: for example analyzing social networks or e-commerce trades, or using bee swarms as a model for developing optimization methods. We also offer a course in Music Informatics, which looks at computational methods for analyzing a social product.
