Title - Exploring Pedestrian Decision-Making for Interaction Awareness in Autonomous Driving Systems; a Summary of the Institute's Autonomous Vehicle
Abstract - Within cities such as Edinburgh, drivers and vulnerable road users (VRUs) often encounter situations where priority is ambiguous or unclear,. This poses a challenge for autonomous vehicles (AVs), for which no direct means for expressing intent and acknowledgment has yet been established in this inherently social task. This talk discusses pedestrian decision modelling and prediction, and discusses interaction-aware autonomous driving (IAAD). Additionally, a summary of our autonomous driving vehicle platform.
