Title: Games for Security Education

Abstract:

I will be talking about some research I have been doing on educational security games, 100% of which has been conducted by undergraduate and masters students. The research direction came from two problems: 1) there are too many project students, 2) teaching computer security to a large number of students with good feedback is quite challenging. In the work we have been exploring different approaches to creating game-like environments where the student can try out a security concept and get detailed feedback on their progress from the game. We also tried out some of the games in the Computer Security course this year with some success.  https://groups.inf.ed.ac.uk/tulips/security_games_list.html
