Title: How Standard is the Standard?

Abstract:

Much of what we do these days - e.g., writing code - is (supposed to be) guided by ISO standards. We examine one of them, for relational language SQL, the backbone of the all relational database products. There are many of them, by the likes of IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, that all claim to support the Standard. But do they? And if they don't, how bad could things get? I'll elaborate on the expected answers ("no", and "very bad").
