Booking Travel

Travel Guidance

Business related travel is booked through Diversity Travel, the University approved travel agent.  Bookings can made by the traveller using the self service method (details in the travel guidance link above) or the admin team can arrange bookings on behalf of the traveller.  The institute admin office can be contacted by email at:  institutes-admin@inf.ed.ac.uk

The guidance includes details about travel risk assessments.  A risk assessment must be completed for all UK travel which involves an overnight stay and for all European/international travel.  Copies of the risk assessments can be found within the travel guidance pages.  Please note, this step should be completed prior to any travel bookings being made.

Funding for business related travel should always be arranged and agreed in advance.  If you have any queries regarding your funding source, please speak to your supervisor/manager in the first instance. Alternatively, you can contact the relevant finance team:

Grant/project funding: finance-research@inf.ed.ac.uk

Start-up funds/School funding: school-finance@inf.ed.ac.uk

 Applications for Institute funding

Institute funding should only be applied for after you have checked with your supervisor that there are no alternative funds available to cover your anticipated costs.  This source of funding is reserved for those who do not have access to any any other funding sources.  Important note, applications for funding MUST be submitted in advance of costs occurring.

UKRI Open Access Fund

Research Council funded researchers can apply to a central fund to pay for Open Access publication costs.
