Astrophysicists and computer scientists, those running today's multi-antennae radio telescopes, and those setting up the two arrays of antennae, in South Africa and Australia pooled ideas about how to handle and fully exploit the anticipated data volumes. The science-ready data extracted from much larger data volumes at the antennae will be 180 petabytes per year when SKA1 starts observing in 2023. A global consortium of SKA researchers needs to use those products for the next 50 years. A tremendous incentive and opportunity for CISA to pursue research into data-powered collaborative consortia.
